TechClues is how TechClues Limited trades. It is an England & Wales-registered company (company number 15945130) whose registered office sits at 125 Hazelville Road, Birmingham, United Kingdom.
TechClues (“we”, “us”, “our”) takes the protection of your privacy seriously. This policy sets out how we gather, use, share and protect your personal data when you browse our website, get in touch, or use our services as a client or potential client.
Our status is that of a UK-registered data controller, bound by the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).
1. What information we collect
The categories of personal data we may gather and process are:
- Details you give us: Name, email address, phone number, company name and job title, plus anything else you share when contacting us, asking about a consultation or hiring us.
- Technical data collected automatically: Your IP address, browser make and version, time zone setting, plug-ins installed, operating system and other technology on any device used to open our website.
- Data on usage: The way you use our website, for example which pages you view, the time you spend and how far down you read, the buttons you click, the forms you begin, and where you came from (such as an advert). Our own analytics gathers this without cookies: see section 8.
- Data from client projects: Personal data inside the materials you hand us so we can create your MVP or other software, handled under our service contracts.
2. What we do with your information
We use your personal data only where the law lets us. Our main legal bases are:
- Legitimate interests: Running our business, enhancing our development and consulting services, looking after our website and talking with business clients about what we offer.
- Contract performance: Providing the services you have asked for, including MVP development, design and continuing support.
- Legal duty: Satisfying legal or regulatory obligations.
- Consent: For some activities, non-essential cookies being one, your explicit consent is what we depend on.
3. Sharing your information with others
Your personal data is never sold by us. It may be shared with:
- Trusted partners: Tools and services that support our operations: hosting, analytics, email and project management providers.
- Professional advisers: Legal advisers, accountants or insurers, if required.
- Authorities: Solely when the law demands it, or to safeguard our rights and safety.
4. Transfers of data abroad
Data is mainly held by us within the UK or the European Economic Area (EEA). When we send your data beyond the UK or EEA, say to a US-based cloud service, approved mechanisms like the UK International Data Transfer Agreement keep it adequately protected.
5. Keeping data secure
To protect your personal data we apply suitable technical and organisational safeguards, including encryption and access controls. That said, sending information over the internet can never be wholly secure.
6. Retention of data
Your personal data is kept for no longer than needed to achieve the purposes it was collected for, which includes meeting legal, accounting or reporting obligations. For client enquiry data, our usual retention period is 24 months.
7. Your statutory rights
UK data protection law gives you the rights listed below:
- Access right: To ask for a copy of your data.
- Correction right: To fix wrong or incomplete data.
- Deletion right: To request that your data be erased.
- Processing restriction right: To limit our use of your data.
- Data portability right: To get your data in a machine-readable, structured format.
- Objection right: To challenge processing that relies on legitimate interests.
To use any of these rights, email info@techclues.co.uk. A complaint may also be raised with the UK supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), which is your right.
8. Cookies
Cookies let us make your visit smoother and see how our website gets used. They help us to recall preferences, review usage and develop our services.
We ask for consent when you first visit, before placing non-essential cookies. The Meta Pixel described below is the exception, since it runs on each visit. Change your decision at any time with the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, or through your browser settings, though that may affect some features.
Our website analytics. First-party analytics on our own server track how the site is used, setting no cookies and storing nothing on your device. The data covers the pages viewed, the time spent on them and scroll depth, clicks on buttons and links, forms started or sent, the website or advert that referred you, your device type, browser and operating system, and a rough country that is inferred from your IP address. We do not store that IP address itself at all, ever.
Counting visitors without cookies relies on mixing your IP address and browser details with a random value, which changes and is erased every day. Nobody can therefore recognise you from one day to the next. Should you accept analytics cookies, a random ID is also kept in your browser so return visits can be spotted. Our legitimate interests justify holding this data for 400 days, to understand and improve our website and advertising. DB-IP (db-ip.com) provides country data.
Microsoft Clarity. After you accept analytics cookies, Microsoft Clarity is also used to watch how visitors interact with our pages via heatmaps and recordings of scrolling and clicks. Cookies are set, and it runs only following acceptance of analytics cookies. Form entries are masked, never recorded. This data is processed for us by Microsoft; consult the Microsoft Privacy Statement (privacy.microsoft.com) for more. Use the “Cookie settings” link in the footer to withdraw consent at any time.
Google Tag Manager. Once you accept analytics or marketing cookies, Google Tag Manager brings in the tags that handle measurement and advertising, covering Google Analytics, Google Ads and other advertising platforms. They follow what you chose: statistics tags need your analytics consent, whereas advertising tags (these gauge our campaigns and could show our adverts to you elsewhere) need your marketing consent. Google's handling of this data is described in its policy (policies.google.com/privacy).
Meta Pixel. Every time someone visits, the Meta Pixel runs to gauge how well our Facebook and Instagram adverts do and to put those adverts in front of suitable audiences. It drops cookies and operates even if you decline marketing cookies, because the options in our cookie banner don't turn it off. To halt it, block third-party cookies or trackers in your browser, or adjust the ad settings on your Facebook or Instagram account. Meta handles this data in line with its privacy policy (facebook.com/privacy/policy).
9. External site links
Links to third-party sites may appear on our website. Since this policy covers none of those sites, we suggest reading their own privacy policies.
10. Updates to this policy
From time to time we may revise this policy. Any new version goes on our website, carrying a fresh “last updated” date.
